2025 AfroBasket Qualifiers: Libya upset Nigeria in overtime

Libya claimed the first win at the 2025 AfroBasket Qualifiers. They upset Nigeria in overtime in Group B opener. Mohamed Sadi (192-PG-1995) came up with 24 points, 12 assists and 9 rebounds to lead the winners.
Libya grabbed a 25-16 lead after the first period. They maintained the lead throughout the next two periods. Libya recorded a 60-50 lead heading into the fourth stanza. But Nigeria responded with a 25-15 run in the next quarter to force overtime. But Libya went on a 14-17 run in the extra period to snatch the win. Sofian Hamad (203-SF-1998) produced 18 points in the victory. Mike Nuga (188-G-1997, college: UNLV) answered with 31 points and 8 rebounds for Nigeria.
