Cape Verde beat Uganda 79-71 to enter the semifinals of the AfroBasket 2021. Cape Verde nailed 24 points in the first quarter and then added a 19-15 rally for an 8-point advantage at the halftime. Moreover, Cape Verde scored 18 points in the third and then the last stanzas for the final success. Walter Tavares (220-C-92) posted the last point for the winners to seal the win. He stepped up with 23 points and 15 rebounds for the winners and Joel Almeida (195-F-85, college: Brockport St.) had 17. Jeffrey Xavier (189-PG-85, college: Providence, agency: Interperformances) followed them with 16 points. Arthur Kaluma (201-F-02) replied with 21 points in defeat, whilst Ishmail Wainright (196-G/F-94, college: Baylor) poured in 13.
