Rwanda - DR Congo 82-68

Rwanda recorded the first win at the home 2021 AfroBasket. They topped DR Congo in Kigali in the opener tonight. William Robeyns (192-SG-96) scored 23 points to pace the winners.
Rwanda grabbed a 24-15 lead after the first period. The teams traded baskets throughout the second term. Rwanda arrived at big break up by 9 points 43-34. DR Congo pulled closer in the third term. The visitors narrowed the gap at 2-point mark at the final break. But the hosts lived up to the challenge. Rwanda sank 25 points in the fourth frame and raced to the victory. Kenny Gasana (195-G-84, college: Boise St.) notched 13 points and 9 assists for the winning side. Maxi Munanga (191-G-93) responded with 22 points for DR Congo.
