The most exciting game of round 17 in the NBL took place in Kampala. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 5th ranked Our Saviour (7-6) to fourth ranked UCU Canons (9-4) 67-66 in the game for the fourth place. UCU Canons forced 24 Our Saviour turnovers. The best player for the winners was center Peter Sifuma (-1996) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international forward Rogers Dauna (196-2000) chipped in 9 points and 8 rebounds. Malual Dier produced 23 points and 7 rebounds for the guests. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. UCU Canons maintains fourth place with 9-4 record. Our Saviour at the other side keeps the fifth position with six games lost. UCU Canons' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Kampala Ndejje Angels.

It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Power. The former international forward Geoffrey Soro (198-1992) orchestrated the victory by scoring 16 points and 9 rebounds. Wadaya Blair contributed with 12 points and 4 steals for the winners. Power forward Isaac Afidra (-1985) answered with 8 points and 7 rebounds for Power. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Blazers have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They moved-up to second place. Power at the other side keeps the sixth position with seven games lost. Blazers' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Kampala to the arena JKL Dolphins.
Another exciting game was again a derby between two local teams from Kampala: Blazers (#3) and UPDF (#8). Blazers (11-4) won against visiting UPDF (4-9) 62-49. Geoffrey Soro stepped up with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Michael Kojjo responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Blazers. They moved-up to second place. Loser UPDF keeps the eighth position with nine games lost. They share it with JKL Dolphins. Blazers' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Kampala to the arena JKL Dolphins.

In the last two games of round 17 KIU Titans defeated JKL Dolphins in Kampala 76-64. Kampala R. lost to defending champion City Oilers at home 45-58.




JKL Dolphins - KIU Titans 64-76

There was no surprise in Kampala where 9th ranked JKL Dolphins (4-9) were defeated by second ranked KIU Titans (10-2) 76-64 on Wednesday. KIU Titans looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. DR Congolese center Amisi Saidi (200) stepped up and scored 14 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and the former international forward Stanley Mugerwa (198-1995) chipped in 9 points and 11 rebounds. Tanzanian forward Chuma Fadhili (-1995) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Derrick Katumba (194-1993) scored 10 points and 7 rebounds. Despite that victory KIU Titans went down to third position due to points difference. Loser JKL Dolphins dropped to the eighth place with nine games lost. They share the position with UPDF. KIU Titans' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Kampala to the arena Our Saviour.

Kampala R. - City Oilers 45-58

No shocking result in a game when leader City Oilers (13-0) defeated on the road 10th ranked Kampala R. (3-9) 58-45 on Saturday. City Oilers forced 19 Kampala R. turnovers and outrebounded them 49-33 including a 37-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. Sudanese center Titus Lual stepped up with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 14 rebounds and 5 blocks for the winners and the former international point guard Fayed Baale (173) chipped in 11 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. City Oilers' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kur Garang responded with 8 points and 8 rebounds and Suka Fadul scored 5 points and 9 rebounds. The victory was the thirteenth consecutive win for City Oilers. Defending champion maintains first place with 13-0 record. Newly promoted Kampala R. keeps the tenth position with nine games lost. They share it with Ndejje Angels and Rezlife S..
