NBL Round 4: Betway Power is defeated by Blazers

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Betway Power (4-1) at the home court on Friday night. Hosts were defeated by fourth ranked Blazers (3-2) 64-57. Blazers forced 27 Betway Power turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of DR Congolese center Amisi Saidi (200-1987) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds and the former international forward Joseph Ikong (193-1985) who added 8 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Blazers' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side guard Innocent Ochera (-1997) responded with 16 points and 4 assists. Blazers have a solid three-game winning streak. Despite that victory Blazers went down to fifth position due to points difference, which they share with UPDF and JKL Dolphins. Betway Power at the other side dropped to the second place with one game lost. Blazers will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Betway Power will play on the road against UPDF in Kampala and is hoping to win this game.
Important game to mention about took place in Kampala. Top-ranked UCU Canons (5-0) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging 4th ranked UPDF (3-2) 61-60 on Friday evening. The winners were led by center Peter Sifuma (-1996) who scored that evening 13 points and 9 rebounds and Lwabaga Ibanda supported him with 14 points and 6 rebounds. Even 13 points and 9 rebounds by forward Benard Okumu (-1986) did not help to save the game for UPDF. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Undefeated UCU Canons have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 5-0 record. UPDF at the other side dropped to the fifth place with two games lost. They share the position with JKL Dolphins and Blazers. UCU Canons will play against bottom-ranked Victoria USY (#13) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. UPDF will play against the league's second-placed Betway Power (#2) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Tenth-ranked KCCA P. (1-4) gave a tough game to top-ranked UCU Canons (5-0) in Kampala on Saturday. UCU Canons managed to secure only two-point victory 51-49. However their fans expected much easier game. Chuma Fadhili fired 13 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Emmanuel Odongkara produced 12 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Undefeated UCU Canons have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 5-0 record. Loser KCCA P. dropped to the eleventh place with four games lost. UCU Canons will meet bottom-ranked Victoria USY (#13) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. KCCA P. will play against JKL Dolphins in Kampala and hope to win that game.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 4: Our Saviour destroyed Victoria USY on the opponent's court 80-57. UPDF lost to defending champion City Oilers in a home game 49-65. Tropical R. managed to beat Ndejje Angels on the road 79-75. Winless Falcons were defeated by Our Saviour on its own court 43-61. Betway Power beat Tropical R. in a road game 90-78. KIU Titans won against Ndejje Angels at home 63-56. JKL Dolphins managed to outperform Blazers on the opponent's court 62-57.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 23 points, 5 assists and 8 steals by Joseph Wacha of Our Saviour.

Important game to mention about took place in Kampala. Top-ranked UCU Canons (5-0) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging 4th ranked UPDF (3-2) 61-60 on Friday evening. Victoria USY - Our Saviour 57-80

Very expected game when bottom-ranked Victoria USY (0-5) was crushed at home by sixth ranked Our Saviour (4-2) 80-57 on Friday. Our Saviour dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Victoria USY's 28 and made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. Our Saviour forced 25 Victoria USY turnovers and outrebounded them 52-30 including a 40-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Guard Joseph Wacha (-1991) fired 23 points, 5 assists and 8 steals for the winners. Forward Stephen Wokorach chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds. Nyong Marrier produced 13 points and 6 rebounds and Mambo Kabuya added 7 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Our Saviour moved-up to third place. Victoria USY at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with five games lost. Our Saviour will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. There was a small surprise in Kampala where sixth ranked City Oilers (3-1) defeated one of their biggest challengers UPDF (3-2) 65-49 on Wednesday. City Oilers forced 26 UPDF turnovers and outrebounded them 43-29 including a 35-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. The former international center Ivan Lumanyika (205-1992) fired a double-double by scoring 14 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Swingman Ruai Luak (196-2004) chipped in 15 points. Swingman Andrew Gang (-1996) produced 16 points and 5 steals and swingman David Okello (-1997) added 10 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Defending champion moved-up to fourth place. Loser UPDF dropped to the fifth position with two games lost. They share it with JKL Dolphins and Blazers. City Oilers will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
