Mali closed Day 1 of the AfroBasket Women 2025 with the win over South Sudan 55-53. They grabbed a 19-15 lead at the start and added a 16-11 rally in the third quarter. Nyamer Lual Diew tied it all at 46-46 for South Sudan, but the latter fell short at the end. Alima Dembele (186-PF-2000) scored the last points for Mali in the game for the narrow win. She top-scored for the winners with 18 points and Djeneba N'Diaye (163-G-1997) brought 10. Delicia Washington (178-G-1997, college: Clemson) and Nyamer Diew (188-F-2001) answered with 18 points in a loss. |
