However, to claim the FIBA Women's AfroBasket crown, they'll need to dethrone Nigeria's D'Tigress, the reigning champions. Led by standout forward Amy Okonkwo (188-F/C-1996, college: TCU)—who is coming off a stellar EuroLeague Women debut season averaging 15.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, shooting 43.9% from beyond the arc (ranking among the top four), and leading the league with a 91.8% free-throw percentage—Nigeria remains the team to beat. FINAL GROUPINGS FOR THE 2025 FIBA WOMEN'S AFROBASKET GROUP A: Cote D'Ivoire, Angola and Egypt GROUP B: Mali, Cameroon, and South Sudan GROUP C: Senegal, Uganda and Guinea GROUP D: Nigeria, Mozambique and Rwanda The draw, allocated the 12 participating teams into four groups (A, B, C, D) of three teams each. Teams were seeded into three pots based on their performance in previous tournaments and regional qualifiers: Pot 1: Côte d'Ivoire (hosts), Nigeria (defending champions), Senegal (2023 runners-up), Mali (2023 bronze medalists).
