AfroBasket 2023: Mali clinch third place in Rwanda

Mali clinched third place in Rwanda at the AfroBasket 2023. In the game for the third place they overcame the hosts, 89-51. Trailing 14-15 at the end of the first period, Mali took control in the rest of the game. They posted a 23-9 surge in the second frame and won the third quarter 23-13. Moreover, Mali erupted with a final 29-14 surge to close the campaign.
Gnere Dembele (186-C-2000) top-scored for the winners with 14 points and Djeneba N'Diaye (175-PG-1997) poured in 13. Sika Kone (190-F/C-2002) followed them with 10, whilst Fatoumata Sanou (160-PG-2004) and Mariam Coulibaly (192-C-1997, agency: Areus Sports) netted 9 apiece. Destiney Philoxy (170-G-2000) answered with 17 points in defeat and Janai Robertson poured in 12.
