AfroBasket 2023: Angola survive overtime against Rwanda

Angola - Rwanda 74-68 OT

Angola survived overtime against Rwanda to seal a 74-68 win at the AfroBasket 2023. Rwanda looked better in the first half and produced two victories to take a 38-22 halftime advantage. Angola however was too far to give up and erupted with a 22-4 surge in the third quarter. Sara Caetano (172-SG-2003) made two free throws later in the fourth quarter to give her side 59-58 lead. Janai Robertson put Rwanda in front at 64-62, whilst Cristina Matiquite (191-C-1992) tied it all at 64-64 to send the teams to overtime.
In overtime, Angola produced a 10-4 run to seal the win. Nadir Manuel (186-F/C-1986) stepped up with 21 points and Sara Caetano added 17. Janai Robertson replied with 19 points in a loss and Destiney Philoxy (170-G-2000) poured in 15.
