AfroBasket 2023: Ivory Coast hold off Angola for first win

Ivory Coast - Angola 72-69

Ivory Coast registered the first win at the 2023 AfroBasket. They overcame Angola to improve at 1-1 record in Group A. Djefarima Diawara (180-F-1994) recorded 21 points for the winners.
Ivory Coast grabbed a 21-13 lead ten minutes into the game. Angola stepped on the gas in the second term. They unloaded 24 points to pull within 5 points at halftime 37-42. But Ivory Coast stiffened defensively in the third term. They held Angola to just 13 points in the period to boost the lead back to double digits. Angola got within striking distance in the fourth period but could not avoid the loss. Safietou Kolga (167-PG-1997) notched 11 points in the win. Sara Caetano (172-SG-2003) was responsible for 18 points for Angola.
