AfroBasket 2021: Nigeria top Senegal to enter Final

Nigeria - Senegal 73-63

Nigeria marched on into the AfroBasket Final after they saw off Senegal on Friday. Amy Okonkwo (188-F-96, college: TCU) scored 16 to lead the defending champions. Nigeria will now face Mali for the trophy.
Nigeria set the tone early in the game. They recorded a 22-11 lead after ten minutes. Nigeria poured in 23 points in the second term to ensure a comfortable 45-31 halftime advantage. They held Senegal to just 13 points in the third term to open a 16-point lead. Senegal narrowed the gap in the fourth period but just sweetened the pill at the end. Ify Ibekwe (187-PF-89, college: Arizona) produced 14 points for the winners. Mame-Marie Sy-Diop (185-F-85) answered with 18 points for Senegal. Yacine Diop (178-G/F-95, college: Louisville) produced 14 points in the loss.
