The most exciting game of round 28 in the NBL took place in Kampala. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 3rd ranked Kampala R. (13-9) to fifth ranked Jaguars (13-8) 56-55 on Sunday evening. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Jaguars forced 22 Kampala R. turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of Aaron Eboyu who helped to win the game recording 19 points. Center Peter Sifuma (-1996) contributed with 11 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Power forward Puati Kikomba replied with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 12 rebounds and 5 blocks for Kampala R.Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Jaguars have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Sommet. Kampala R. at the other side dropped to the fourth position with nine games lost. They share it with UCU Canons.
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Kampala: Rezlife S. (#8) and KCCA P. (#5). Rezlife S. (11-10) smashed visiting KCCA P. (12-10) by 20 points 79-59. Worth to mention a great performance of Francis Kasinde who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 4 steals and Christopher Omanye who added 15 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side the former international center Ivan Lumanyika (205-1992) responded with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds. KCCA P.'s coach rotated twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Rezlife S. have a solid four-game winning streak. Newly promoted Rezlife S. maintains eighth position with 11-10 record. KCCA P. at the other side dropped to the sixth place with ten games lost. They share the position with City Oilers.

City Oilers were defeated at home 74-82 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. The winners were led by Joel Lukoji who scored that evening 17 points and 4 steals. Blazers' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 25 points by Edgar Munaba did not help to save the game for City Oilers. Blazers have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 19-3 record. City Oilers lost third consecutive game. Defending champion dropped to the sixth place with ten games lost. They share the position with KCCA P..

Other games in round 28 were not that significant. Rezlife S. smashed Livingstone on the road 91-46. Victoria C. destroyed Livingstone on its own court 85-44. JKL Dolphins were outscored by City Oilers in Kampala 93-58. Jaguars rolled over Sommet at home 84-62. JKL Dolphins were crushed by Rezlife S. on the opponent's court 87-60.
The most impressive performance of 28th round was 21 points, 5 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals by Micheal Otieno of Rezlife S..




Rezlife S. - KCCA P. 79-59

Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Kampala: Rezlife S. (#8) and KCCA P. (#5). Rezlife S. (11-10) smashed visiting KCCA P. (12-10) by 20 points 79-59. Rezlife S. made 19-of-25 charity shots (76.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 32 KCCA P. turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of Francis Kasinde who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 4 steals and guard Christopher Omanye (183-1994) who added 15 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Four Rezlife S. players scored in double figures. Another interesting game was again a derby between two local teams from Kampala: Blazers (#1) and City Oilers (#7). City Oilers were defeated at home 74-82 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Blazers made 27-of-34 free shots (79.4 percent) during the game. They also forced 26 City Oilers turnovers. The winners were led by DR Congolese Joel Lukoji (-2001) who scored that evening 17 points and 4 steals and power forward Moses Mugisha (-1984) supported him with 13 points and 8 rebounds. Four Blazers players scored in double figures. Blazers' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 25 points by the former international forward Edgar Munaba (196-1999) did not help to save the game for City Oilers. Rezlife S. dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Livingstone's 28. Rezlife S. forced 28 Livingstone turnovers and outrebounded them 58-32 including a 22-11 advantage in offensive rebounds. Rezlife S. looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The winners were led by center Rin Tueny Mabor (-1996) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 22 points and 16 rebounds and guard Micheal Otieno (193-1993) supported him with 24 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Even 15 points and 4 assists by Isaac Athuai did not help to save the game for Livingstone. Oscar Byomuhangi added 5 points and 7 rebounds for lost side. Victoria C. dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Livingstone's 38. Victoria C. forced 28 Livingstone turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Livingstone's players. The winners were led by Cedric Alema who scored that evening 14 points and 7 rebounds and Chuol Nyuot supported him with 13 points and 8 rebounds. Jaguars dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Sommet's 34. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Jaguars made 7 blocks.
