NBL Round 21 (Regular Season): Sommet beat City Oilers by three after a very close game

The most exciting game of round 21 in the NBL took place in Kampala. Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Kampala: KCCA P. (#3) and Victoria C. (#8). KCCA P. (11-8) won against visiting Victoria C. (7-8) 67-57. Stephen Otoa stepped up and scored 10 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and Toussaint Mumpaya chipped in 11 points and 5 assists. KCCA P.'s coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was Chuol Nyuot with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 18 rebounds. KCCA P. moved-up to second place. Victoria C. lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the eighth position with eight games lost. Very important is a road loss of third ranked Jaguars (10-6) against ninth ranked JKL Dolphins (6-9) on Saturday night. Visiting Jaguars were defeated by JKL Dolphins in a tough game in Kampala 51-57. Noel Yamodo nailed 17 points and 8 assists for the winning side. Peter Sifuma came up with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 19 rebounds for Jaguars in the defeat. Despite that victory JKL Dolphins went down to tenth position due to points difference. There were no big surprises in other games of round 21: KIU Titans lost to undefeated Blazers on the road 63-84. Rezlife S. lost to undefeated Blazers on its own court 70-80. UCU Canons managed to outperform JKL Dolphins in Kampala 66-59.



Blazers - KIU Titans 84-63

No shocking result in a game when leader Blazers (16-0) crushed 11th ranked KIU Titans (2-14) in Kampala 84-63 on Saturday. Blazers looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists. Power forward Moses Mugisha (-1984) nailed 19 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and the former international Ivan Muhwezi (182-1998) accounted for 17 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. Blazers' coach felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. P Akuk came up with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 19 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals and Daniel Odonkyero added 18 points respectively for KIU Titans in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Blazers have an impressive series of fifteen victories in a row. They maintain first place with 16-0 record. DR Congolese Marc Muhindo (185-2004) came up with 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and center Elvis Bwanka added 11 points and 8 rebounds respectively for JKL Dolphins in the defeat.
