NBL Round 4: City Oilers hand first defeat to UPDF

UPDF (3-1) recorded its first loss in Kampala on Wednesday night. Hosts were defeated by sixth ranked City Oilers (3-1) 65-49. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of UPDF. City Oilers forced 26 UPDF turnovers and outrebounded them 43-29 including a 35-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. The former international center Ivan Lumanyika (205-1992) fired a double-double by scoring 14 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Swingman Ruai Luak (196-2004) chipped in 15 points. Swingman Andrew Gang (-1996) produced 16 points and 5 steals for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion moved-up to third place, which they share with defeated UPDF.
Important game to mention about took place in Kampala. Top-ranked UCU Canons (4-0) saved a 2-point derby victory at home edging 10th ranked KCCA P. (1-4) 51-49 on Saturday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Worth to mention a great performance of Tanzanian forward Chuma Fadhili (-1995) who helped to win the game recording 13 points and 8 rebounds. Titus Lual contributed with 8 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Forward Emmanuel Odongkara (-1989) replied with 12 points and 6 rebounds for KCCA P.Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. UCU Canons have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 4-0 record. KCCA P. at the other side dropped to the eleventh place with four games lost.
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in . Fourth ranked Blazers faced their close opponent Betway Power. Guests from (3-2) defeated host Betway Power (4-1) 64-57. Worth to mention a great performance of Amisi Saidi who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds. Blazers' coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side Innocent Ochera responded with 16 points and 4 assists. Blazers have a solid three-game winning streak. Despite that victory Blazers went down to fifth position due to points difference, which they share with Our Saviour and JKL Dolphins. Loser Betway Power dropped to the second place with one game lost.

Rest of the games of round 4 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Tropical R. defeated Ndejje Angels in a road game 79-75. Winless Falcons were beaten by Our Saviour at home 43-61. Betway Power won against Tropical R. on the opponent's court 90-78. KIU Titans managed to outperform Ndejje Angels in a home game 63-56. JKL Dolphins managed to beat Blazers on the road 62-57.
The best stats of 4th round was 15 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists by Brian Namake of JKL Dolphins.

Worth to mention a great performance of Duallo Joshua who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 12 points, 24 rebounds and 5 assists and Denis Omara who added 23 points and 6 steals during the contest. At the losing side Cikom Munbai responded with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 11 rebounds and Godwin Muhamiriro produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds.
