RBL Round 6 (Regular Season): APR keep a leadership position

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The game had a very big importance for third-ranked APR as it allowed them to take a leadership position. APR smashed 6th ranked Azomco in Kigali 98-49. APR held Azomco to an opponent 22.2 percent shooting from the field compared to 45.2 percent accuracy of the winners. APR looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was Nigerian center Israel Otobo (200-2004) who had a double-double by scoring 11 points and 13 rebounds. The former international forward Ntore Habimana (196-1997, college: Laurier) chipped in 11 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Jarode Aworet (-2001) who recorded a double-double by scoring 12 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. APR have a solid three-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Azomco at the other side dropped to the seventh place with three games lost. They share the position with UGB.
Undefeated REG (3-1) recorded its first loss in Kigali. Hosts were defeated by eighth ranked UGB (1-3) 85-77. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of REG. It was a good game for Ghanian James Amotoe (-1998) who led his team to a victory with 28 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Nkosinathi Sibanyoni contributed with 12 points, 15 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals for the winners. DR Congolese forward Frank Betoudji (201-1998) replied with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 12 rebounds and 5 blocks for REG. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. UGB left bottom position moving up to seventh place, which they share with Azomco. REG at the other side keeps the second position with one game lost. They share it with Tigers.

Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Kepler (2-1) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Patriots. Newly promoted EAU dropped to the sixth position with two games lost.

In the last game of round 6 Tigers crushed Inspired Gen. in Kigali 109-54.



Inspired Gen. - Tigers 54-109

There was no surprise in Kigali where bottom-ranked Inspired Gen. (0-4) was crushed by third ranked Tigers (3-1) 109-54 on Sunday. Tigers forced 25 Inspired Gen. turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 36 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Inspired Gen.'s players. The former international center Olivier Shyaka (197-1995) scored 17 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and international point guard Antino Jackson (182-1996, college: N.Mexico) chipped in 13 points and 10 assists during the contest. Five Tigers players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Samuel Asiribo with 13 points and 9 rebounds and Cameroonian forward Jean Mouandjo (200-2003) scored 9 points and 8 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Tigers moved-up to second place, which they share with REG. Newly promoted Inspired Gen. still closes the standings with four games lost.

An interesting game was played in Kigali where Kepler (#6) beat host EAU (#5) with 18-point difference 92-74 on Sunday evening. Kepler outrebounded EAU 54-35 including a 35-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Kepler looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by EAU's players. The former international power forward Elie Kaje (198-1995) had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Canadian guard Chad Bowie (188-1996, college: SHSU) chipped in 18 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was Ben Ndayishimiye Cyiza with 20 points and 5 rebounds and South Sudanese swingman Ruai Luak (198-2004) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Kepler (2-1) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Patriots.
