NBL Round 22 (Regular Season): KCCA Leopards beat Magic S. in a derby game

Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Kampala: KCCA Leopards (#3) and Magic S. (#6). Magic S. was defeated at home 60-65 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Magic S.. KCCA Leopards forced 19 Magic S. turnovers and outrebounded them 47-36 including a 37-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. KCCA Leopards looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The former international guard Tracy Namugosa (170-2000) fired 28 points and 5 assists for the winners. Margaret Bagaala chipped in 12 points, 12 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. Forward Daphine Adong produced 16 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals for lost side. KCCA Leopards (11-3) have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain third position having just three points less than leader Lady Jaguars. Magic S. at the other side keeps the sixth place with eight games lost. They share the position with Tomahawks. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

KCCA Leopards were defeated at home 47-61 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of KCCA Leopards. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Sarah Ageno (176-1996) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 10 points and 13 rebounds. Priscillar Nambogo contributed with 14 points for the winners. The former international guard Tracy Namugosa (170-2000) replied with 10 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals for KCCA Leopards. Lady Jaguars maintains first position with 13-2 record. KCCA Leopards at the other side keep the third place with three games lost. Lady Jaguars' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Kampala to the arena Miracle.
The game with biggest result difference took place in Kampala. Local Angels (2-13) were outscored by ninth ranked She Crocs (5-9) 69-44 on Wednesday night. Mary Hezal Ssengendo scored 14 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals to lead the charge for the winners. At the losing side Rebecca Namatovu responded with 9 points and 13 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted She Crocs maintains ninth position with 5-9 record. Angels lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 13 games lost. She Crocs will meet at home higher ranked KIU Rangers (#8) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Angels' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Kampala Lady Dolphins.

In the last game of round 22 Miracle was defeated by Peal Queens in a road game 50-38.

Peal Queens - Miracle 50-38

There was no surprise when 10th ranked Miracle (3-11) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked Peal Queens (8-7) 50-38 on Wednesday. Peal Queens forced 28 Miracle turnovers. Nigerian Iriele Jane Chisom (-2000) had a double-double by scoring 10 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Rose Adhiambo chipped in 9 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side Caroline Natako responded with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Akello Winnifred (-2001) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds. Newly promoted Peal Queens maintains fifth position with 8-7 record. Miracle lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the tenth place with 11 games lost. Peal Queens will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Miracle's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Kampala Lady Jaguars.
