The most exciting game of round 22 in the NBL took place in Kampala. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 7th ranked Jaguars (5-8) to fourth ranked UCU Canons (8-5) 68-65 on Friday evening. UCU Canons forced 19 Jaguars turnovers. Jimmy Otim (-1999) scored 19 points and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Marvin Okurut chipped in 13 points and 4 steals during the contest. At the losing side Ian Lubwama responded with 19 points and 5 rebounds. Jaguars' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Kampala: Blazers (#2) and KCCA P. (#4). KCCA P. was smashed at home by 24 points 55-79 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. The former international Tonny Drileba (183-1993) notched 8 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and Ochera Innocent supported him with 17 points. Even 20 points by guard Davis Assimwe did not help to save the game for KCCA P.. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Blazers (11-1) have an impressive 11-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position behind leader City Oilers. KCCA P. at the other side dropped to the sixth place with six games lost. In the last two games of round 22 UPDF was destroyed by JKL Dolphins on the opponent's court 88-61. Rezlife S. outscored Victoria Crocs in a home game 79-57.



JKL Dolphins - UPDF 88-61

There was a minor upset in Kampala where 9th ranked UPDF (3-9) was crushed by eleventh ranked JKL Dolphins (3-10) 88-61 on Wednesday. JKL Dolphins forced 39 UPDF turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Agok Ichut fired 19 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 8 steals for the winners. Saasita Martin chipped in 7 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals. Peter Akok produced 4 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals and Martin Janvier added 16 points respectively for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. JKL Dolphins maintains eleventh position with 3-10 record. Newly promoted UPDF keeps the ninth place with nine games lost. They share the position with UMU.
