NBL Round 11 (Regular Season): Lady Jaguars beat KIU Rangers in a derby game

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Kampala: Lady Jaguars (#4) and KIU Rangers (#8). Lady Jaguars (5-1) crushed visiting KIU Rangers (3-3) by 33 points 80-47. Lady Jaguars forced 20 KIU Rangers turnovers and outrebounded them 60-37 including a 26-11 advantage in offensive rebounds. Lady Jaguars looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was forward Mercy Batamuliza who had a double-double by scoring 14 points, 31 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals. Guard Brenda Kayaga (-1996) chipped in 14 points. The former international forward Sharon Nangobi (170-1996) produced 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Lady Jaguars have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Lady Canons. KIU Rangers lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with three games lost. They share it with Peal Queens. Lady Jaguars' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Kampala to the arena Tomahawks.
Bottom-ranked Angels (0-5) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 56-42 loss to sixth ranked She Crocs (4-4) in . Forward Thelma Toskin (-2002) orchestrated the victory by scoring 9 points and 9 rebounds. Mary Hezal Ssengendo contributed with 9 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Rebecca Namatovu answered with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds for Angels. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted She Crocs maintains sixth place with 4-4 record. Angels at the other side still closes the standings with five games lost. Nabisunsa was defeated at home 69-78 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. It was a great evening for Brenda Ekone who led her team to a victory scoring 24 points and 6 rebounds. Auma Joy responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. Lady Dolphins have a solid series of four victories in a row. Defending champion maintains fourth place with 4-1 record. Nabisunsa lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with five games lost. They share it with Magic S.. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
