The most exciting game of round 15 in the NBL took place in Kampala. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 8th ranked Magic S. (5-6) to fifth ranked KIU Rangers (7-6) 66-65 on Saturday evening. KIU Rangers forced 25 Magic S. turnovers. Strangely Magic S. outrebounded KIU Rangers 54-32 including a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. KIU Rangers looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was Burundian Ines Kanyamuneza (-1998) who scored 17 points and 5 rebounds. Forward Sharon Kirabo (170-1996) chipped in 21 points and 4 steals. At the other side the best for losing team was Kur Ajah who recorded a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. KIU Rangers have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain fifth place with 7-6 record. Magic S. lost fourth consecutive game. Lady Tomahawks were crushed at home by 29 points 63-92 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Lady Tomahawks. It was a good game for international swingman Shakirah Nanvubya (-2000) who led her team to a victory with 21 points and 5 steals. Brenda Kayaga contributed with 19 points for the winners. It was a great evening for Angella Lokwameri who led her team to a victory scoring 22 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. The best for the losing side was Kur Ajah with 9 points and 6 rebounds. Magic S.'s coach gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Defending champion maintains third place with 10-3 record having 3 victories less than leader KCCA Leopards. Magic S. lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with six games lost. They share it with Lady Tomahawks. There was no surprise in Kampala where bottom-ranked Nkumba LM (0-13) was crushed by fourth ranked UCU Ladies (9-2) 67-32 on Saturday. UCU Ladies held Nkumba LM to an opponent 15.2 percent shooting from the field compared to 32.5 percent accuracy of the winners. UCU Ladies forced 22 Nkumba LM turnovers and outrebounded them 68-45 including a 44-31 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for Zoe Atek (-2005) who led her team to a victory scoring 12 points and 8 rebounds. Burundian Christa Igiraneza (-2004) helped adding 11 points, 5 assists and 5 steals. The best for the losing side was guard Mellisa Namboowa (-1992) with 18 points and 5 rebounds and Shalom Muwanguzi scored 4 points and 8 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
