UPDF - JKL Dolphins 68-54 Another interesting game was again a derby between two local teams from Kampala: UPDF (#10) and JKL Dolphins (#8). UPDF (4-7) won against visiting JKL Dolphins (3-7) 68-54. UPDF forced 19 JKL Dolphins turnovers and outrebounded them 65-41 including a 43-28 advantage in defensive rebounds. Michael Kojjo had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and swingman Andrew Gang (-1996) chipped in 12 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Point guard Bienfait Minani responded with 11 points and 9 rebounds and forward Derrick Katumba (194-1993) scored 6 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. UPDF moved-up to seventh place, which they share with KCCA P. JKL Dolphins lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth position with seven games lost. They share it with Ndejje Angels and Kampala R.. UCU Canons were defeated at home 55-61 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of UCU Canons. Our Saviour forced 22 UCU Canons turnovers and outrebounded them 48-37 including 16 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was Kenneth Mesho who scored 8 points and 11 rebounds. Power forward Moses Mugisha (-1984) chipped in 8 points and 6 rebounds. Our Saviour's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Center Peter Sifuma (-1996) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds and the former international forward Rogers Dauna (196-2000) added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Our Saviour have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position with 5-3 record. UCU Canons at the other side dropped to the fourth place with four games lost. Local Ndejje Angels (3-7) were outscored by fourth ranked Blazers (7-3) 76-55. Blazers held Ndejje Angels to an opponent 23.1 percent shooting from the field compared to 41.8 percent accuracy of the winners. Blazers forced 27 Ndejje Angels turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists comparing to just 5 passes made by Ndejje Angels' players. Rwandan center Micheal Makiadi (-1989) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 15 rebounds and 6 assists. Peter Cheng contributed with 20 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Joseph Kumbai replied with 8 points and 17 rebounds and Kok Gol added 14 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Ndejje Angels. Ndejje Angels' coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Blazers moved-up to third place.
