NBL Round 10: KIU Titans edge KCCA P. by one point

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most exciting game of round 10 in the NBL took place in Kampala. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 5th ranked KCCA P. (6-6) to seventh ranked KIU Titans (6-5) 65-64 in the game for the sixth place. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of KCCA P.. KIU Titans forced 21 KCCA P. turnovers and had a 38-27 advantage in offensive rebounds. 24 personal fouls committed by KCCA P. helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Edgar Munaba fired a double-double by scoring 13 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. Otieno Micheal chipped in 17 points and 7 rebounds. Kenyan forward Martin Ouma (195-1999) produced 17 points and 9 rebounds for lost side. KCCA P.'s coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. KIU Titans moved-up to sixth place. KCCA P. at the other side dropped to the seventh position with six games lost.
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Kampala: UCU Canons (#1) and JKL Dolphins (#8). UCU Canons (11-1) won against visiting JKL Dolphins (5-6) 64-56. Worth to mention a great performance of center Peter Sifuma (-1996) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds. Chuma Fadhili contributed with 12 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. UCU Canons' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Mabor Makol replied with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 11 rebounds for JKL Dolphins. UCU Canons have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 11-1 record. JKL Dolphins at the other side keep the eighth place with six games lost.
Bottom-ranked Falcons (0-11) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 67-62 loss to twelfth ranked Victoria USY (2-10) in Kampala on Sunday evening. Maker Mayen had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 15 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners. At the losing side Emmanuel Ateng responded with 24 points and 8 rebounds. Newly promoted Victoria USY maintains twelfth position with 2-10 record. Loser Falcons still closes the standings with 11 games lost.

In the last two games of round 10 Blazers defeated Tropical R. in a road game 76-65. Ndejje Angels was smashed by UPDF at home 47-82.
The best stats of 10th round was 17 points by Ferdinand Odama of UPDF.



UCU Canons - JKL Dolphins 64-56

Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Kampala: UCU Canons (#1) and JKL Dolphins (#8). UCU Canons (11-1) won against visiting JKL Dolphins (5-6) 64-56. They outrebounded JKL Dolphins 52-35 including a 38-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. Tropical R. - Blazers 65-76

There was no surprise when 8th ranked Tropical R. (5-7) was defeated at home by fourth ranked Blazers (7-4) 76-65 on Saturday. Blazers forced 32 Tropical R. turnovers. DR Congolese center Amisi Saidi (200-1987) had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Kenyan guard Collins Kasujja (183-1994) chipped in 19 points and 5 steals during the contest. At the losing side Denis Omara responded with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and Allan Nandala scored 20 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Blazers maintains fourth position with 7-4 record. Newly promoted Tropical R. dropped to the ninth place with seven games lost.

Falcons - Victoria USY 62-67

Bottom-ranked Falcons (0-11) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 67-62 loss to twelfth ranked Victoria USY (2-10) in Kampala on Sunday evening. They also forced 23 Falcons turnovers and outrebounded them 58-43 including a 18-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Maker Mayen had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 15 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Cedric Alema chipped in 17 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks during the contest. At the losing side Emmanuel Ateng responded with 24 points and 8 rebounds and Walter Omonyi scored 15 points and 7 rebounds. Newly promoted Victoria USY maintains twelfth position with 2-10 record. Loser Falcons still closes the standings with 11 games lost.

Ndejje Angels - UPDF 47-82

No shocking result in a game in Kampala where sixth ranked UPDF (7-5) smashed 11th ranked Ndejje Angels (3-7) 82-47 on Sunday. UPDF held Ndejje Angels to an opponent 24.6 percent shooting from the field compared to 39.2 percent accuracy of the winners. UPDF forced 28 Ndejje Angels turnovers and outrebounded them 56-36 including 21 on the offensive glass. Swingman David Okello (-1997) scored 20 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Arthur Wanyoto chipped in 13 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Four UPDF players scored in double figures. At the losing side power forward Cikom Monybai responded with 10 points and 7 rebounds and Hassan Sentamu scored 16 points and 5 steals. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. UPDF moved-up to fifth place. Ndejje Angels lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with seven games lost.
