The game had a very big importance for third-ranked APR as it allowed them to take a leadership position. APR smashed 6th ranked Azomco in Kigali 98-49. APR held Azomco to an opponent 22.2 percent shooting from the field compared to 45.2 percent accuracy of the winners. APR looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a good game for Nigerian center Israel Otobo (200-2004) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 13 rebounds. The former international forward Ntore Habimana (196-1997, college: Laurier) contributed with 11 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Jarode Aworet (-2001) replied with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for Azomco. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. APR have a solid three-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with REG. Azomco at the other side dropped to the seventh place with three games lost.
Another interesting game for Kepler (2-1) which played in Kigali against 5th ranked EAU (1-2). Sixth ranked Kepler had an easy win 92-74. The former international power forward Elie Kaje (198-1995) had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Chad Bowie chipped in 18 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was Ben Ndayishimiye Cyiza with 20 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kepler moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Patriots. Newly promoted EAU dropped to the sixth position with two games lost.
Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Kigali: Tigers (#3) and Inspired Gen. (#8). Inspired Gen. was smashed at home by 55 points 54-109 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Olivier Shyaka notched 17 points and 8 rebounds to lead the effort. Even 13 points and 9 rebounds by Samuel Asiribo did not help to save the game for Inspired Gen.. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Tigers maintains third position with 3-1 record having just one point less than leader APR. Newly promoted Inspired Gen. still closes the standings with four games lost.
