Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.
The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Kigali: REG (#1) and EA Univ (#8). EA Univ was smashed at home by 34 points 62-96 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. REG dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to EA Univ's 44. REG forced 33 EA Univ turnovers and outrebounded them 51-32 including a 26-15 advantage in offensive rebounds. REG looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Paul Akon who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 25 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and the former international Sandrine Mushikiwabo (182-1995) who added 15 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side guard Ange Uwiringiyimana responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Undefeated REG (20-0) have an impressive 16-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with a perfect record of 20 victories in a row. EA Univ at the other side dropped to the seventh place with 11 games lost.
Another interesting game was again a derby between two teams from Kigali: REG (#1) and APR (#2). APR was smashed at home by 26 points 62-88 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. The winners were led by the former international point guard Odile Tetero (162-1998) who scored that evening 17 points and 8 assists and Paul Akon supported her with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Even 18 points and 6 rebounds by the former international center Charlotte Umugwaneza (195-1984) did not help to save the game for APR. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Undefeated REG (20-0) have an impressive 16-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with a perfect record of 20 victories in a row. APR at the other side keeps the second place with three games lost.
