Regular Season Round 16: EA Univ - REG 62-96

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Kigali:REG (#1) and EA Univ (#8). EA Univ was smashed at home by 34 points 62-96 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. REG dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to EA Univ 's 44. REG forced 33 EA Univ turnovers and outrebounded them 51-32 including a 26-15 advantage in offensive rebounds. REG looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Paul Akon who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 25 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and the former international Sandrine Mushikiwabo (182-1995) who added 15 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Four REG players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Ange Uwiringiyimana responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds and Diane Izerimana (-2000) scored 14 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. REG (20-0) have an impressive 16-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with a perfect record of 20 victories in a row. EA Univ at the other side dropped to the seventh place with 11 games lost.
