Angola - Algeria 53:42 Angola recorded their 4th win at All-Africa Games yesterday. They drove past hosting Aleria 53:42 to hand them the second loss at the tournament. Angola ensured a narrow lead after the opening quarter 13:12. They capitalized on numerous mistakes of Algerian offense and rolled to a 27:21 advantage at halftime. Angola played a solid basketball never allowing the home side to come any closer. They maintained the dominance throughout the third quarter and won it 16:13. Putting themselves at a comfortable distance Angola nevertheless did not stop and remained alert in the fourth frame limiting Algeria to 8 points and celebrating an impressive 53:42 victory. Nassecela Mauricio netted 14 points and pulled down 9 boards for Angola. Irene Guerreiro (-70) nailed another 11 points for the winners. Soraya Aissani chipped in 12 points in a losing effort. Samira Ferragh had 8 points and 7 boards for the home side. Despite having outrebounded Angola 38:34 Algeria struggled from the field knocking down just 33% of their shots. The victory saw Angola imrprove to 4-0 record on top of the standings and they enter the classification round as favourites. Algeria fell to 2-2 record and start the qualifiers today.
Tunisia bounced back after a stunning loss to Senegal in previous round and outscored Zimbabwe on Day 5 of action in Algeria. The faced little obstacles on the way to their second win at the tournament yesterday. Tunisia grabbed an early lead 20:8. They continued to dominate on the court and outscored Zimbabwe 27:17 in the second quarter to establish a comfortable 47:25 advantage at halftime.
