Algeria - Cote d'Iviore 69:64 Algeria celebrated the second win at All-Africa Games in Alger. The hosts prevailed in the third frame to come back from behind and succeed. Cote d'Ivoire grabbed an early lead as they won the opening quarter 22:19. Algeria tried to cut the deficit but Cote d'Ivoire held on to the advantage and surrendered just a single point. They ensured a 36:34 gap at halftime. The home side rebounded in the third quarter and cheered up by the local fans managed to surge ahead. They limited their opponents to just 9 points and established a 51:45 lead. Cote d'Ivoire tried hard to save the encounter in the final frame but Algeria performed some tough defence and sealed a 69:64 victory at the dying stage of the game. Kenza Gheroumi nailed 19 points in a win. Rachida Belaidi (-79) had 14 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists to pace Algeria. Mariame Djoura netted game-high 20 points for Cote d'Ivoire. Stephanie N'Garsanet added 15 points and 10 boards in a losing effort. Cote d'Ivoire outrebounded the hosts 48:37 but lacked accuracy converting just 35% of field goals. Algeria improved to 2-1 record and will play versus Angola today. Cote d'Ivoire fell to 0-3 record and will seek for their first win against DR Congo later tonight.
