Mali outplayed Egypt 66-54 in the Big Final of U16 AfroBasket 2011. It
means that Mali defended the title which they won two years ago. Fanta
Dire was the leading player in victory with 21 points.
Awa Keita secured a great help adding 19 points and 14 boards. In
the loosing squad,
Soraia Yehia delivered 16 points. She was named MVP of the
tournament, despite her team lost in the Big Final.
In the battle for Bronze, Angola was better than Tunisia 59-55.
Rosa Gala of Angola finished as tthe best scorer of the
championship. She nailed 157 points in total.
Soraia Yehia followed her with 118 and
Wafa Loubiri is third best scorer with 100 pts. All other players
had much lower digits.
Egypt and Mali to meet in the Finals

Egypt and Mali will meet in the Finals of U16 AfroBasket 2011. Of course
the winner will take the Gold at this event. The same teams met in the
2009 Finals and Mali won that year.
Egypt cruised past Angola 72-41 in the Semifinals. Angola somehow
managed to resist in the first ten minutes, but Egypt made 28-20 until
the halftime. Egypt never looked back after that and their lead was just
increasing. They won the last period 22-9 for the final 73-41 victory.
Mai outplayed Tunisia 72-54. The winners started with 19-14 in the first
ten minutes and extended their lead to plus seven until the halftime.
Wafa Loubiri exploded for Tunisia in Q3 and thanks to his 18 points in
this period they came to minus one, 46-45. Mali intensified defense in
the last ten minutes and blasted Tunisia 26-9 until the end.
Saturday is the last day of the competition in Egypt.
Preliminary Round is over, Semifinals set

Preliminary Round of the U16 AfroBasket in Egypt is over. The host of
this event ended this stage with perfect 5-0. In Day Five, Egypt blasted
Tunisia 77-34 to stay perfect. Tunisia had 4-0 before this meeting, so
they finished Preliminary Round as No.2. Both teams advanced to
Semifinals. Third ranked Mali and fourth Angola also reached the next
stage. Defending champion Mali registered 3-2 record so far. Angola has
2-3. Algeria and Mozambique failed to reach the Semis. Algeria has 1-4
score and finished as No.5. Mozambique is the last ranked team at this
event win no win.
Egypt and Tunisia stay unbeaten

There is only one more day left in the Preliminary Round of U16
AfroBasket 2011. Egypt and Tunisia registered four straight wins so far
and they will meet each other in the battle for first place. In the
latest games Tunisia grabbed 55-50 win against Angola to stay perfect.
Tunisia had to work very hard in order to secure this victory. Egypt
destroyed Mozambique 90-42. It was the only game which was played
yesterday. There is still one winless team at this event and it is
Mozambique. They faced with four consecutive defeats so far. Mali is
currently third ranked team with 2-2 record. Algeria and Angola share
the fourth place with 1-3 score.

U16
AfroBasket started last Friday in Egypt. Tunisia is No.1 after three
rounds with perfect 3-0 record. They outplayed Algeria 78-52 in the
first game and after that handed 50-28 loss to Mali. In third meeting,
Tunisia was too strong for Mozambique 62-55. The second rankled team at
this moment in Egypt. The host of this event has 2-0 record. They
outplayed Angola in the championship opener 89-56. In the second game,
Egypt destroyed Algeria 83-27. Mozambique and Algeria are only winless
teams so far. Mozambique has 0-2 and Algeria 0-3 in Egypt. Mali and
Angola are on third and fourth place respectively after three rounds.
