Egypt celebrated the first ever AfroBasket U16 title. They held off Ivory Coast in the title game in Rwanda tonight. Egypt recorded a 22-13 lead after the first period. Ivory Coast held their opponents to just 7 points to tie things up at 29. Egypt restored the lead with a massive 24-8 rally in the third term. Ivory Coast tried hard to come back into the game but came up short at the end. Joudi Elsayed finished with 15 points, while Dana Abdalaa added 12 points for Egypt. Jane Diomande responded with 24 points and 10 rebounds for Ivory Coast.
