Anyango's double-double lands her Hoops Agents Player of the Week award

Matrina Anyango had an amazing evening in the last round for second-ranked UCU Lady Canons and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 26.
She had a double-double of 15 points and 21 rebounds, while her team beat Peal Queens (#6, 9-9) 61-50. Lady Canons maintains the 2nd position in Ugandan NBL. They are still close to the very top. Lady Canons would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 17-3 record. Anyango turned to be Lady Canons' top player in her first season with the team. Anyango has impressive league stats. She is in league's top in points (8th best: 12.6ppg) and rebounds (5th best: 10.7rpg).

Second best performed player last round was Joan Namatovu (1999) of Angels BC. She is a in her first season at Angels. In the last game Namatovu recorded an impressive 25 points and 8 rebounds. Bad luck as Angels lost that game 47-53 to the higher-ranked KIU Rangers (#7, 8-10). Angels are still at the very bottom. 18 lost games are too many comparing to just two victories Angels managed to get this year. Namatovu is a newcomer at Angels and despite she is not a team leader yet, every game she becomes more reliable player. Hopefully performances like the last one will happen more often.

Third place about best performers goes to Auma Joy of Nabisunsa Girls (#11). Joy showcased her all-around game by recording 7 points, 15 rebounds (!!!) and 9 assists in the last round. Despite Joy's great performance the Nabisunsa lost 62-67 to the higher-ranked Magic S. (#5, 10-9). But her team cannot count on just a single player as she also needs help of the other teammates. Nabisunsa can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 2-13 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Joy has individually a great season in Uganda. After 15 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 13.3ppg (4th best), rebounds with 10.7rpg (4th best) and assists with 3.9apg (4th best). She also has 2.1spg and 1.6bpg.
