Anyango number one in Uganda NBL for round 21

Matrina Anyango had an amazing evening in the last round for second-ranked UCU Lady Canons, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 21.
The player had a double-double of 14 points and 12 rebounds, while her team beat She Crocs (#9, 4-9) 50-39. Lady Canons maintains the 2nd position in Ugandan NBL. They are still close to the very top. Lady Canons would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 12-3 record. Anyango turned to be Lady Canons' top player in her first season with the team. Matrina Anyango has solid league stats. She is in league's top in rebounds (8th best: 9.8rpg).

The second best player in last round's games was Kenyan Joy Mupalia (F) of Magic Stormers Kampala. Mupalia had a very good evening with 18 points and 8 rebounds. It was enough for Magic S. to edge the higher-ranked Lady Jaguars (#1, 12-2) 47-46. Magic S.'s 6th position in the standings has not changed. Her team lost some distance to top teams. But a 7-7 record is not bad and everything may still change. Mupalia is a newcomer at Magic S. and despite she is not a team leader yet, every game she becomes more reliable player. Hopefully performances like the last one will happen more often.

Third on the list of top players last round was another Magic S.'s star - forward Daphine Adong (F). Adong showcased her all-around game by recording 14 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists in the last round. She was another key player of Magic Stormers Kampala, helping her team with a 73-43 easy win against the lower-ranked Angels (#12, 2-12). Magic S. needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 7 victories and 7 lost games. Adong has a great season in Uganda. After 13 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in assists with 3.8apg (6th best).
