Chukwubuka number one in Uganda NBL for round 19

Nigerian Forward Anthony Chukwubuka (202-F-1994) had a great game in the last round for top-ranked Namuwongo Blazers, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 19.
The 31-year old player was the main contributor (16 points, six rebounds and two assists) to his team's victory, helping them to outclass Sommet (#5, 6-5) with 41-point margin 82-41. It allowed Blazers to take over top position in the Ugandan NBL. Blazers has a very good season and are considered to have a run for the championship title. They improved their record to 9-1. It was one of impressive evenings for Chukwubuka as usually he does not deliver so high stats. Anthony Chukwubuka averages just after two games 10.0ppg and 7.0rpg.

The second best player in last round's games was young Gideon Kasasa (G-1998) of Kampala Rockets. Kasasa had a very good evening with 22 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Bad luck as Kampala R. lost that game 75-88 to the higher-ranked Blazers (#1, 9-1). This loss caused Kampala R. to drop to 11th position in the standings. 8 lost games are too many comparing to just two victories Kampala R. managed to get this year. Kasasa is a newcomer at Kampala R. and despite he is not a team leader yet, every game he becomes more reliable player. Hopefully performances like the last one will happen more often.

Third on the list of top players last round was Edrine Ekau (2006) of Rezlife Saints (#3). Ekau scored 24 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. He was a key player of Rezlife S., leading his team to a 83-59 easy win against the lower-ranked JKL Dolphins (#9, 2-8). Rezlife S. needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 7 victories and 2 lost games. Ekau has a great season in Uganda. After only 9 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 17.4ppg (best scorer) and assists with 3.2apg (7th best). He also has 2.2spg and a FGP of 50.7%.
