Peter Cheng gets MVP of the Week award for Ugandan NBL (by Hoops Agents)

Peter Cheng (F) had a great game in the last round for Sommet BC and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 14.
The forward had a double-double of 23 points and 10 rebounds, while his team edged out Jaguars (#8, 2-3) 74-72. Sommet is placed at 4th position in Ugandan NBL. Sommet is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 4-4 record. Cheng turned to be Sommet's top player in his first season with the team. Cheng has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (7th best: 14.3ppg).

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young international guard Peter Obleng (190-G-2003) of Namuwongo Blazers. Obleng impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 25 points and 12 rebounds. Of course he led Blazers to another comfortable win 69-51 over slightly higher-ranked Victoria Crocs (#3, 5-3) being unquestionably team leader. This victory allowed Blazers to move up to 5th position in the standings. His team lost some distance to top teams. But a 3-1 record is not bad and everything may still change. Obleng is a newcomer at Blazers and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 15.8ppg (#5). He also registered 5.5 boards per game.

The third best performed player last round was George Odeke (2001) of JT Jaguars BC (#8). Odeke showcased his all-around game by recording 23 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in the last round. Despite Odeke's great performance the Jaguars lost 72-74 to the higher-ranked Sommet (#4, 4-4). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Jaguars ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 3 games, recording just two victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Odeke could help Jaguars to bring them higher in the standings. Odeke has a very solid season. In 4 games in Uganda he scored 6.8ppg.
