The most exciting game of round 14 in the NBL took place in Kampala. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 8th ranked Jaguars (2-3) to sixth ranked Sommet (4-4) 74-72 on Sunday evening. Forward Peter Cheng had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Nigerian Abolaji Emilagba (-1999) chipped in 10 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals during the contest. Abraham Chuol responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Sommet moved-up to fourth place. Jaguars lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with three games lost. Sommet will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Kampala: Blazers (#7) and Victoria Crocs (#3). Blazers (3-1) smashed visiting Victoria Crocs (5-3) by 18 points 69-51. The former international guard Peter Obleng (190-2003) notched a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds to lead the effort and Jimmy Enabu supported him with 9 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Even a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds by Chuol Nyuot did not help to save the game for Victoria Crocs. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Blazers have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion moved-up to fifth place, which they share with UCU Canons. Victoria Crocs at the other side keep the third position with three games lost. The best player for the winners was Fayed Baale who scored 18 points, 6 assists and 5 steals. Omar Waleed produced 15 points for the hosts. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Undefeated City Oilers (5-0) have an impressive five-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Rezlife S. Loser KCCA P. dropped to the seventh place with three games lost. KCCA P. was defeated at home 60-71 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of KCCA P.. They outrebounded KCCA P. 48-35 including a 38-27 advantage in defensive rebounds. City Oilers looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists.
