The most surprising game was a loss of Lady Tomahawks (2-1) in Kampala on Wednesday night. Visitors were defeated by KIU Rangers (2-2) 66-51. KIU Rangers held Lady Tomahawks to an opponent 25.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 43.5 percent accuracy of the winners. KIU Rangers forced 23 Lady Tomahawks turnovers and had a 41-28 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for forward Sharon Kirabo (170-1996) who led her team to a victory with 16 points. point guard Fildauce Namulema (155-2001) contributed with 6 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Guard Stella Lunkuse (-1998) answered with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds for Lady Tomahawks. Lady Tomahawks' coach rotated twelve players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. KIU Rangers' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Kampala to the arena Nkumba LM.
Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Kampala: Magic S. (#7) and Angels (#8). Angels were defeated at home 44-54 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. It was a great evening for guard Christine Nakito who led her team to a victory scoring 2 points and 15 rebounds. Ruth Nambirige helped adding 2 points and 15 rebounds. The best for the losing side was guard Caroline Nakato (-1999) with 12 points and 8 rebounds. Angels' coach tested eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Magic S.'s supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Kampala Nabisunsa.
Another exciting game was again a derby between two local teams from Kampala: KCCA Leopards (#2) and KIU Rangers (#6). KCCA Leopards (2-1) won against visiting KIU Rangers (2-2) 73-65. It was an exceptional evening for Asinah Kabendela who led the winners and scored 8 points and 15 rebounds. Sharon Kirabo came up with 15 points and 9 rebounds for KIU Rangers in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. KCCA Leopards' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Kampala to the arena A1 Challenge.
The most impressive performance of 3rd round was 10 points and 12 rebounds by Stella Nanfuka of KIU Rangers.
