Nigeria's national basketball team, the D'Tigers, maintained their hopes of qualifying for the event with a crucial victory over Uganda in an exciting performance at the FIBA AfroBasket 2025 Qualifiers. Nigeria overcame a difficult start with an incredible fourth-quarter performance to win the game by a landslide of 87-67 at the Grand Hall in Tripoli, Libya. Uganda took the first quarter 16-12 and the second quarter 18-16 and Nigeria trailed 28-34 at the halftime break. D'Tigers bounced back to take the third quarter 27-25 cutting the deficit late. Their combined efforts were vital in Nigeria’s comeback and eventual success. The D'Tigers were behind going into the last quarter, but they went on a rampage and defeated Uganda 32–8. Caleb Agada (196-SF-1994, college: Ottawa, agency: Pensack Sports) led the team with 20 points while Ike Nwamu (193-G-1993, college: UNLV) scored 18 points, both of which were outstanding performances. This result revitalizes Nigeria’s campaign in the qualifications, setting them for a pivotal battle against Cape Verde next. The D'Tigers must win this next game in order to move on in the competition and guarantee their place in the AfroBasket 2025.
