Alicante signs Mwema.

HLA Alicante (Primera FEB) signed 34-year-old Belgian-Ugandan international forward Jean-Marc Mwema for the upcoming season. He is the second foreign player on the team, with Argentinian Gonzalo Bressan already on the roster. Mwema spent the last three years playing for Windrose Giants Antwerp in the Belgian Pro Basketball League. Last year, he played in three different leagues, showcasing his skills on various levels. In the Pro Basketball League, he averaged 4.0ppg, 3.2rpg, and 1.0spg in 11 games, helping his team reach the league final. Mwema also played in the Basketball Champions League, averaging 4 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal in one game. In the BNXT League, he contributed 6.0ppg, 3.4rpg, and 1.3apg in 28 games, helping his team finish the regular season in second place.
Mwema has been a member of the Belgian international program for some years. He has regularly played for the Belgian senior team since 2011 and previously for the Under 18 National Team in 2007.
Mwema also represented Belgium at the FIBA World Cup 2023 European Qualifiers last year. During this event he scored an average of 6.9 ppg and had 5.3 rpg.
He has also played in Oostende.
