Flavia Oketcho (170-G-1986) made a triumphant return as the JKL Lady Dolphins secured an 84-57 victory over the UPDF Lady Tomahawks in Game Two on Sunday, advancing to the semifinals of the ongoing National Basketball League Playoffs. Oketcho, who had missed most of the round two games due to personal reasons, also missed the recent National team training camp in Germany, and she has since been replaced as team captain. On Sunday, Flirsh as commonly known in basketball circles, contributed five points and five rebounds for the Lady Dolphins in her comeback game at YMCA in Wandegeya. JKL, who dominated Game One with a 95-59 win, completed a 2-0 sweep in the best-of-three quarterfinal series. UPDF initially showed resistance, trailing by only five points (14-19) after the first quarter, but JKL gradually extended their lead, ultimately winning by 27 points. Both teams struggled with three-point shooting, with JKL hitting only 17% and UPDF missing 26 of their 30 attempts. Brenda Ekone (152-G-1996) led JKL with a game-high 27 points, while Jane Asinde (188-F-1999, college: UTEP) added a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. For the Lady Tomahawks, Dorah Nakijoba and Christine Namyalo (2006) scored 14 and 10 points, respectively. Despite the season ending for UPDF, they can be proud of their efforts in their debut season in top-flight basketball. Defending Champions JKL on the other hand, will face JT Lady Jaguars in the best of five series.
