City Oilers hope to clinch a semifinal ticket on Wednesday when they take on Kampala Rockets in Game Two of the best-of-three Quarterfinal playoffs series at Lugogo. The Oilers, nine time League winners, currently lead the series 1-0, following a big 75-52 victory on Saturday at the YMCA Court in Wandegeya. Despite the final 23-point margin, the Oilers faced early challenges, trailing 22-14 after the first quarter. However, the Rockets struggled with their three-point shooting, hitting just 3-of-25 attempts, including missed shots from Kasinde Francis and Kur Garang, who were a combined 0-for-11 from beyond the arc. The Rockets’ bench offered little support, contributing only three points compared to the Oilers’ 24. And this came on a night when Oilers’ star player Titus Lual (201-C-1998) was limited to just two points. For the Rockets, the trio of Ola Simon, Ruai Luak (198-G/F-2004), and Pauti Ozias Kikomba, who all scored in double digits, will be key players to watch as they attempt to cause an upset. It’s worth noting that the Oilers have an impressive track record, having never lost a series since their promotion to the National Basketball League nine seasons ago.
