NBL Round 25 (Regular Season): Our Saviour beats KCCA P. in a derby game

The Regular Season in NBL just ended. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Kampala: Our Saviour (#6) and KCCA P. (#4). Our Saviour (11-11) crushed visiting KCCA P. (12-10) by 19 points 80-61. Power forward Moses Mugisha (-1984) fired 17 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Guard Joseph Wacha (-1991) chipped in 12 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists. Forward Aaron Ojoo (-1996) produced 13 points and 8 rebounds for lost side. KCCA P.'s coach rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Our Saviour maintains sixth place with 11-11 record. KCCA P. at the other side keeps the fourth position with ten games lost.

KIU Titans were crushed at home by 28 points 43-71 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Worth to mention a great performance of Sudanese center Titus Lual (201-1998) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 12 points and 19 rebounds. Ivan Muhwezi contributed with 11 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. City Oilers' coach Karim Nesba felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Mpiya Juf answered with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds for KIU Titans. City Oilers (19-1) have an impressive series of fourteen victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place. KIU Titans at the other side keep the second position with five games lost.

Blazers were defeated at home 67-75 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Ruai Luak stepped up and scored 18 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals for the winners. At the losing side Richard Ongom responded with 27 points and 5 rebounds. Kampala R. maintains eighth place with 8-13 record, which they share with Livingstone. Loser Blazers keep the third position with six games lost.

Other games of round 25 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
JKL Dolphins crushed Jaguars in Kampala 79-54. Power was beaten by Livingstone at home 54-61. JKL Dolphins destroyed KIU Titans on the opponent's court 65-44. City Oilers outscored Ndejje Angels in a home game 95-51. City Oilers rolled over Livingstone on the road 82-48.

Another exciting game was again a derby between two teams from Kampala: City Oilers (#1) and KIU Titans (#2). KIU Titans were crushed at home by 28 points 43-71 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. City Oilers held KIU Titans to an opponent 24.6 percent shooting from the field compared to 39.1 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded KIU Titans 60-36 including a 43-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of Sudanese center Titus Lual (201-1998) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 12 points and 19 rebounds. The former international Ivan Muhwezi (182-1998) contributed with 11 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Four City Oilers players scored in double figures. There was a minor upset when 7th ranked Jaguars (10-12) were crushed at home by tenth ranked JKL Dolphins (8-14) 79-54 on Saturday. JKL Dolphins forced 34 Jaguars turnovers. Kabangu Clement stepped up with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and Austin Odiwuor chipped in 13 points and 9 rebounds. At the losing side George Agasi responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds and forward Kevin Moru scored 8 points and 6 rebounds. Jaguars' coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. JKL Dolphins maintains tenth place with 8-14 record. Jaguars lost their fifth game in a row. Newly promoted team keep the seventh position with 12 games lost.

No shocking result in a game in Kampala where ninth ranked Livingstone (8-13) defeated 11th ranked Power (6-16) 61-54 on Sunday. Livingstone forced 23 Power turnovers. Amara Ariho stepped up and scored 16 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and Bismarck Okot chipped in 12 points and 8 rebounds. Livingstone's coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side power forward Geofrey Soro (-1992) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds and Taariq Powel scored 15 points. The victory was the third consecutive win for Livingstone. They moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Kampala R. Loser Power keeps the eleventh position with 16 games lost.

Kabangu Clement stepped up and scored 22 points and 5 steals for the winners and guard Martin Buluma chipped in 12 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals. Coach 's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. City Oilers dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Ndejje Angels' 30. City Oilers forced 25 Ndejje Angels turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Ndejje Angels' players.
