Brenda Kayaga gets MVP of the Week award for Ugandan NBL (by Hoops Agents)

Brenda Kayaga (G-1996) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for JT Lady Jaguars and that's her to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 18.
The 27-year old guard had the game-high 31 points adding five rebounds and three assists for JTL Jaguars in her team's victory, helping them to beat KCCA Leopards (#2, 14-4) 70-62. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. JTL Jaguars maintains the 4th position in Ugandan NBL. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. JTL Jaguars will need more victories to improve their 13-7 record. In the team's last game Kayaga had a remarkable 66.7% from 2-point range. It was one of impressive evenings for her as usually she does not deliver so high stats. Brenda Kayaga averages this season 10.6ppg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young guard Akello Winnifred (G-2001) of Miracle Ravens. Winnifred impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 22 points and 13 rebounds. Of course Miracle cruised to a 66-57 relatively comfortable win over the lower-ranked YMCA Hamstars (#10, 3-15). Despite this victory Miracle slide down in the standings to 7th position. Her team lost some distance to top teams. But a 10-9 record is not bad and everything may still change. Winnifred is one of the most experienced players at Miracle and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 14.4ppg (#7). She also registered 9.8 boards per game.

The third best performed player last round was international guard Brenda Ekone (152-G-1996) of top-ranked Just Kip Living Lady Dolphins. Ekone scored 25 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. She was a key player of JKL Dolphins, leading her team to a 83-55 easy win against the lower-ranked Miracle (#7, 10-9). Many experts and fans count JKL Dolphins as a contender for championship title. Another victory and another confirmation that they may be right. Just look at their record: 19 victories and only one lost game. They are currently at the very top of the standings. Ekone has a great season in Uganda. After 19 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 19.4ppg (best scorer).
