NBL Round 16 (Regular Season): Derby game ends with JTL Jaguars' defeat of Miracle

Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Kampala: JTL Jaguars (#5) and Miracle (#6). JTL Jaguars (10-5) won against visiting Miracle (9-8) 66-57. JTL Jaguars outrebounded Miracle 58-43 including 20 on the offensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Sarah Ageno (176-1996) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points, 16 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. Mercy Batamuliza contributed with 11 points and 20 rebounds for the winners. Mariam Namukwaya (-2005) replied with 23 points and 7 rebounds for Miracle. JTL Jaguars maintains fifth position with 10-5 record. Miracle lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with eight games lost. JTL Jaguars' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Kampala to the arena Nabisunsa.

Miracle was defeated at home 63-71 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Worth to mention a great performance of Kur Ajah who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points, 17 rebounds and 4 blocks and Jessica Namugala who added 15 points and 5 assists during the contest. At the losing side Susan Amito (-1988) responded with 9 points and 19 rebounds. Magic Stormers maintains seventh position with 8-7 record. Miracle lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with eight games lost. Magic Stormers' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Kampala KCCA Leopards.
NBL top team - JKL Dolphins (15-1) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they crushed tenth ranked YMCA Hamstars (3-13) 95-47. The winners were led by Brenda Ekone who scored that evening 28 points. Even 20 points and 8 rebounds by Rose Musundi did not help to save the game for YMCA Hamstars. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. JKL Dolphins have an impressive 15-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 15-1 record. Newly promoted YMCA Hamstars keep the tenth place with 13 games lost. JKL Dolphins' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Kampala JTL Jaguars.

Other games in round 16 were not that significant. Nabisunsa was beaten by A1 Challenge on the road 50-48. Winless Kampala Uni was destroyed by Magic Stormers on its own court 43-83. KCCA Leopards outscored Nabisunsa in Kampala 83-27.

A1 Challenge - Nabisunsa 50-48

No shocking result in a game when ninth ranked A1 Challenge (5-10) edged 11th ranked Nabisunsa (1-13) in Kampala 50-48 on Saturday. The winners were led by Stella Kiberenge who had that evening a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds and Cathy Kekimuli supported her with 11 points and 13 rebounds. Even a double-double of 19 points and 22 rebounds by guard Sarah Namale (-2005) did not help to save the game for Nabisunsa. Mpoza Abigail added 10 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. A1 Challenge moved-up to eighth place. Nabisunsa lost twelfth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with 13 games lost. Very expected game when bottom-ranked Kampala Uni (0-14) was smashed at home by seventh ranked Magic Stormers (8-7) 83-43 on Saturday. Magic Stormers dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Kampala Uni's 32. They outrebounded Kampala Uni 49-23 including a 26-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by guard Christine Nakito who had that evening a double-double by scoring 10 points and 14 rebounds and Martha Nakalemba supported her with 14 points and 7 assists. Four Magic Stormers players scored in double figures. Even 11 points and 6 rebounds by Pennitah Nabakooza did not help to save the game for Kampala Uni. Victoria Nalwanga added 11 points for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. KCCA Leopards held Nabisunsa to an opponent 23.2 percent shooting from the field compared to 53.7 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Nabisunsa 42-22 including a 28-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by guard Leanne Nalunkuma (-1990) who scored that evening 28 points and 5 rebounds and Asinah Kabendela supported her with 16 points and 12 rebounds.
