NBL Round 1 (Regular Season): KIU Rangers defeat JTL Jaguars

The Regular Season in NBL just started. Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of JTL Jaguars in Kampala on Friday night. Visitors were defeated by KIU Rangers 61-57. KIU Rangers forced 28 JTL Jaguars turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of Mary Amaniyo (180-2003) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 25 points and 20 rebounds. Forward Sharon Kirabo (170-1996) contributed with 17 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Guard Maimuna Nabbosa (-1999) answered with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds for JTL Jaguars. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Kampala: UCU Ladies and Kampala Uni. UCU Ladies crushed visiting Kampala Uni by 50 points 78-28. The former international Shakirah Nanvubya (-2000) stepped up and scored 12 points for the winners and Hajara Najjuko chipped in 15 points. At the losing side guard Hanifah Namuli (-2002) responded with 16 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. UCU Ladies will play against YMCA Hamstars in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Kampala Uni's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Kampala Nabisunsa.
Another exciting game was again a derby between two local teams from Kampala: KCCA Leopards and A1 Challenge. KCCA Leopards crushed visiting A1 Challenge by 42 points 75-33. Amoding Moreen nailed 32 points and 5 steals for the winning side. Stella Kiberenge came up with 9 points and 9 rebounds for A1 Challenge in the defeat. A1 Challenge's coach gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. KCCA Leopards' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Kampala to the arena UCU Ladies.

In the last two games of round 1 Miracle beat Magic Stormers on the road 61-53. JTL Jaguars destroyed Nabisunsa on its own court 82-35.

Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Kampala: UCU Ladies and Kampala Uni. UCU Ladies crushed visiting Kampala Uni by 50 points 78-28. UCU Ladies held Kampala Uni to an opponent 15.9 percent shooting from the field compared to 39.0 percent accuracy of the winners. UCU Ladies forced 20 Kampala Uni turnovers and outrebounded them 55-36 including a 37-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. The former international Shakirah Nanvubya (-2000) stepped up and scored 12 points for the winners and Hajara Najjuko (-1998) chipped in 15 points. At the losing side guard Hanifah Namuli (-2002) responded with 16 points and 6 rebounds and Victoria Nalwanga scored 5 points and 5 rebounds. Another exciting game was again a derby between two local teams from Kampala: KCCA Leopards and A1 Challenge. KCCA Leopards crushed visiting A1 Challenge by 42 points 75-33. KCCA Leopards held A1 Challenge to an opponent 23.6 percent shooting from the field compared to 34.2 percent accuracy of the winners. KCCA Leopards forced 36 A1 Challenge turnovers and outrebounded them 55-37 including a 20-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Guard Amoding Moreen (-1990) nailed 32 points and 5 steals for the winning side and guard Perus Nyamwenge accounted for 14 points and 5 steals. Stella Kiberenge came up with 9 points and 9 rebounds and Vivian Lusamamba added 7 points and 6 rebounds respectively for A1 Challenge in the defeat. Magic Stormers - Miracle 53-61

There was a surprise result when Miracle beat Magic Stormers in Kampala 61-53 on Saturday. Miracle forced 25 Magic Stormers turnovers and outrebounded them 50-34 including a 32-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Guard Akello Winnifred (-2001) nailed a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds for the winning side and forward Brenda Alyano accounted for 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Miracle players scored in double figures. Miracle's coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Daphine Adong came up with 10 points and 7 rebounds and Martha Nakalemba added 13 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Magic Stormers in the defeat. Miracle's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Kampala JKL Dolphins.

Very expected game when Nabisunsa was smashed by JTL Jaguars in Kampala 82-35 on Sunday. JTL Jaguars held Nabisunsa to an opponent 19.7 percent shooting from the field compared to 42.7 percent accuracy of the winners. JTL Jaguars forced 25 Nabisunsa turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 4 passes made by Nabisunsa's players.
