NBL Round 7: JKL Dolphins are defeated by KCCA P. in a derby game

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Kampala: KCCA P. (#5) and JKL Dolphins (#8). KCCA P. (3-3) won against visiting JKL Dolphins (1-3) 78-69. KCCA P. forced 24 JKL Dolphins turnovers. It was a great evening for Salim Kisilu who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds. Center Daniel Gaaki (-1992) helped adding 14 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists. At the losing side point guard Bienfait Minani responded with 20 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. KCCA P. moved-up to fourth place, which they share with UPDF. JKL Dolphins at the other side dropped to the ninth position with three games lost. They share it with UCU Canons and Our Saviour. KCCA P.'s supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Kampala UCU Canons.
Another exciting game was again a derby between two teams from Kampala: City Oilers (#1) and Ndejje Angels (#6). Ndejje Angels were crushed at home by 22 points 57-79 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. It was an exceptional evening for swingman Ruai Luak (196-2004) who led the winners and scored 26 points and 5 steals. Titus Lual accounted for 15 points and 11 rebounds. Joseph Kumbai came up with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds for Ndejje Angels in the defeat. Ndejje Angels' coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Undefeated City Oilers (10-0) have an impressive series of ten victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with a perfect record of 10 victories in a row. Ndejje Angels lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with four games lost. They share it with Power. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

Kampala R.'s supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Kampala to the arena KIU Titans.

In the last two games of round 7 Blazers destroyed Rezlife S. on the opponent's court 85-56. UCU Canons unfortunately lost to UPDF in a home game 53-61.

Rezlife S. - Blazers 56-85

Very expected game in Kampala where 12th ranked Rezlife S. (1-5) was crushed by third ranked Blazers (4-2) 85-56 on Sunday. Blazers dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Rezlife S.'s 34. They outrebounded Rezlife S. 48-36 including 34 on the defensive glass. Chuol Nyuot fired a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Peter Cheng chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds. Guard Micheal Otieno (193-1993) produced 19 points and 6 rebounds and Thok Timothy added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Rezlife S.'s coach already knew that his team would not have a big chance, so allowed to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Blazers maintains third place with 4-2 record having ten points less than leader City Oilers. Newly promoted Rezlife S. stay at the bottom position with five games lost. Rather predictable result in Kampala where sixth ranked UPDF (3-3) defeated 9th ranked UCU Canons (1-3) 61-53 on Sunday. UPDF forced 21 UCU Canons turnovers. Arthur Wanyoto fired 23 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Jafar Remo (-1997) chipped in 11 points and 7 rebounds. Jimmy Otim (-1999) produced 27 points and 6 rebounds and center Peter Sifuma (-1996) added 4 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. UPDF moved-up to fourth place, which they share with KCCA P. Loser UCU Canons keep the ninth position with three games lost. They share it with Our Saviour and JKL Dolphins.
