NBL Round 6: Ndejje Angels are defeated by UCU Canons in a derby game- April 24, 2022

Ndejje Angels - UCU Canons 77-86 The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Kampala: UCU Canons (#1) and Ndejje Angels (#8). Ndejje Angels were defeated at home 77-86 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. UCU Canons outrebounded Ndejje Angels 60-32 including a 39-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Center Peter Sifuma (-1996) had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Tanzanian forward Chuma Fadhili (-1995) chipped in 13 points and 13 rebounds during the contest. Four UCU Canons players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was David Mayom (201-2000) with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and Haron Alinaitwe scored 13 points and 6 assists. Ndejje Angels' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. UCU Canons maintains first position with 7-1 record. Ndejje Angels lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with four games lost. Third ranked host City Oilers (5-1) defeated second-best Betway Power (5-3) 75-68. City Oilers forced 35 Betway Power turnovers. Strangely Betway Power outrebounded City Oilers 48-34 including 17 on the offensive glass. Drileba Tonny notched 15 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals to lead the effort and Okello James supported him with 11 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Five City Oilers players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 21 points and 13 rebounds by guard Innocent Ochera (-1997) did not help to save the game for Betway Power. The former international forward Geoffrey Soro (198-1992) added 4 points and 12 rebounds. City Oilers have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion moved-up to second place. Betway Power at the other side dropped to the third position with three games lost. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their sixth consecutive match to sixth ranked UPDF (4-3) 70-50 on Wednesday evening. UPDF forced 35 Falcons turnovers. The best player for the winners was swingman David Okello (-1997) who scored 23 points and 6 steals. Forward David Opolot (-1989) chipped in 8 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 6 steals. UPDF's coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international power forward Brian Ssentongo (203-1987) who recorded a double-double by scoring 11 points and 14 rebounds and Mark Ngobi added 17 points respectively. UPDF moved-up to fifth place. Loser Falcons still closes the standings with six games lost.
