Franck Nyembo, 19-year old Congolese forward from the runner-up team Sommet BC, was voted the Defensive Player of the Year at the National Basketball League. He received multiple other awards, was selected as the Import Player of the Year, Forward of the Year, Best Prospect of the Year, and was chosen to the First Team, Imports Team and Defensive Team. Nyembo's consistent performance as a playmaker earned him the third ranked in rebounds per game, showcasing average of almost 12. He was the Player of the Week honoree three times during the 25 campaign. Nyembo led the NBL in points per game with over 18. He has totalled 4 games of 20 or more points and recorded double-doubles in 10 games on the year. Nyembo's 37 points against the City Oilers were the most he scored in the 2025 season. Peter Cheng, forward from the Sommet BC, was honored as the Domestic Player of the Year of National Basketball League. He collected multiple other honors, was named to the First Team and Domestic Players Team and Defensive Team. Cheng received Player of the Week award in the league. He showcased his talent by ranking fourth in points per game with an average of over 15 and second in rebounds per game with an average of almost 12. Cheng has totalled 4 games of 20 or more points and registered double-doubles in 11 games on the year. His 29 points against Kampala Rockets were the most he scored in the 2025 season. Chad Bowie, 28-year old Canadian guard from the Kepler BBC Kigali, earned the Guard of the Year at the National Basketball League. He graduated from the SHSU five years ago. Bowie received multiple other awards, earned a spot in the First Team and Imports Team and Defensive Team. His best performance made his team reach the finals but they unfortunately were defeated by the Blazers 2 to 4. Bowie was voted Player of the Week in the league. He orchestrated his way to the third spot in points per game, showcasing a dazzling average of over 16. Bowie also averaged over 5 rebounds per game in the league. His 27 points against the Blazers were the most he scored in the 2025 season. Joel Kayira, 24-year old center from the UCU Canons Kampala, picked up the Center of the Year of National Basketball League. He collected multiple other honors, was voted to the First Team and Domestic Players Team and Defensive Team. Kayira conducted his way to the fourth position in averaging a commendable over 11 rebounds per game. He also had almost 11 points per game that season in the league. Kayira has totalled 2 games of 20 or more points and recorded double-doubles in 10 games on the year. His 23 points against the KCCA Panthers were the most he scored in the 2025 season. Kurt-Curry Wegscheider, 24-year old Central Africa guard from the finalist team City Oilers Kampala, was selected to the First Team at the National Basketball League. He Is the Lubbock Christian alumni from 2024. Wegscheider received multiple other awards, was chosen to the Imports Team and Defensive Team. His best performance made his team reach the finals but they unfortunately were defeated by the Blazers 2 to 4. With finesse and precision, Wegscheider claimed the second position in points per game, delivering a stellar over 18 points per game average. Wegscheider also logged almost 6 rebounds per game over the season in the league. His 37 points against the Blazers were the most he scored in the 2025 season. Among many awards he was selected to the NJCAA D1 All-Region 18 Second Team back in 2022. He was also selected to the LSC All-Tournament Team in 2024.
