Valladolid tabs Samkelo Cele

Samkelo Cele

UEMC Real Valladolid Baloncesto (Primera FEB) inked 27-year old South African ex-international 198cm guard Samkelo Cele (college: USAO). He played most recently at NY Knicks in the NBA Summer League. In only one game he had 11 points and 2 rebounds last season. He also played for Tigers (BNL) in South Africa. Cele also played 8 games in Basketball Africa League where he was the best scorer with impressive 21.6ppg and recorded 4.3rpg, 2.6apg and 2.4spg (in top 2). He helped them to make it to the semifinals. A very good season in his career as he was voted to Afrobasket.com All-Basketball Africa League First Team. Cele was a member of South African Senior National Team back in 2017.
Among many awards he won OCAC championship title in 2020. He was selected to Afrobasket.com Basketball Africa League All-Defensive Team in 2023.
Cele graduated from University of Science and Arts in 2023 and it will be his second season in pro basketball. He played for other colleges like: Marist College, Southern University, Northeast Oklahoma A&M College.
