Marlins forced 22 MBB turnovers and outrebounded them 56-38 including a 39-28 advantage in defensive rebounds. Swingman Sifiso Gininda (186-1998) scored 13 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and guard Benjamin Myburgh (185-1997) chipped in 9 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. Marlins' coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international guard Celumusa Khumalo (193-1988) responded with 29 points and point guard Thabo Gumede (180) scored 8 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists.

Forward Joshua Tawengwa (192) notched 20 points and 9 rebounds to lead the effort and Ian Lembe supported him with 19 points and 7 steals. Suns' coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win.
