Kabelo Kubayi gets MVP of the Week award for South African BNL (by Hoops Agents)

Kabelo Kubayi (180-G/F-1996) put on an amazing game in the last round for Northern Cape Zebras and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 12.
The 28-year old swingman had a double-double of 20 points and 13 rebounds, while his team edged out NW Eagles (#6, 0-3), the league's bottom-ranked team 66-62. Zebras maintains the 4th position in their group in the South African BNL. NC Zebras is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 1-2 record. Kubayi turned to be Zebras' top player in his first season with the team. Kubayi has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (2nd best: 18.7ppg), assists (9th best: 3.7apg) and averages solid 3.7spg and 52.5% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was another NC Zebras' star - Mndeni Mdluli. Mdluli impressed basketball fans with 20 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. It was enough for Northern Cape Zebras to edge NW Eagles (#6, 0-3) by 4 points 66-62. Zebras' 4th position in Group A has not changed. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 1-2 record. Mdluli is a newcomer at Zebras and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 17.3ppg (#3). He also registered 4.3 boards per game.

The third best performed player last round was Taite Hendricks (2006) of top-ranked Kwa-Zulu Marlins. Hendricks scored 13 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. He was a key player of Marlins, leading his team to a 81-49 easy win against #4 ranked NC Zebras in a game of the week. KZ Marlins started extremely well this year. They recorded 5 victories without losing a single game in Group B. Hendricks turns to be one of the very best players in the league while he is also a leader of the top team having his eyes on the championship title. Hendricks has a very solid season. In 4 games in South Africa he scored 9.5ppg.
