Mongolia - South Africa 74-48

Mongolia edged South Africa 74-48 for the initial win at the World University Games. Mongolia dominated the whole game and won all the quarters. The second quarter was the most successful for the winners as they posted a comfortable 24-13 surge. Uuganbayar Tumenbayar (180-PG-1998) top-scored for the winners with 23 points and Dulguun Gankhuyag (204-C-2003) netted 12. Dulguunmurun Davaadorj (193-F-1999) followed them with 10 points in the winning effort. Jan-Cloete Oelofse (201-G/F-2002) replied with 15 points in the losing effort and Nkosinathi Chibi (178-PG-1998) had 7.
