Arnas Velicka

BC Rytas Vilnius (LKL) inked 23-year old Lithuanian international 195cm point guard Arnas Velicka for upcoming season. Velicka played most recently at NINERS Chemnitz in German BBL league. He managed to play in three leagues last year (!!!). The team played in three different competitions that year, and he was exposed to basketball on different levels. In 37 BBL games he recorded 9.5ppg, 2.5rpg, 7.1apg (top 4) and 1.1spg. Velicka also played 12 games in FIBA Europe Cup where he averaged 13.0ppg, 4.2rpg, 7.8apg and 1.4spg. Great season indeed as he was voted to Eurobasket.com All-FIBA Europe Cup Honorable Mention. And finally he recorded 3 games in Basketball Champions League where he had very impressive stats: 15.7ppg, 3.0rpg, 3.7apg and 1.3spg.
The previous (2021-22) season he played at Gevi Napoli Basket in Italian Serie A. In 29 games he got 9.7ppg, 3.3rpg, 2.9apg and 1.0spg in that year. Good season as he was selected League Player of the Week.
He has been also a member of Lithuanian international program for some years. Velicka has regularly played for Lithuanian senior team since 2017 and previously for U18 National Team back in 2017.
He represented Lithuania at the European Championships (FIBA EuroBasket) U20 in Tel-Aviv (Israel) four years ago.
Velicka is a very experienced player. He has played also professionally in France (Chalons Reims), Latvia, Spain (FC Barcelona Lassa 2nd team), Germany (Braunschweig), Lithuania (Atletas, Lietkabelis, Prienai and Zalgiris Kaunas 2nd team), Estonia (Tartu) and NBA Summer League (Boston Celtics and Denver Nuggets).
Among many awards his team made it to the Estonian League Semifinals in 2019. Velicka received Eurobasket.com All-Lithuanian LKL Youth Player of the Year award and Eurobasket.com All-Lithuanian LKL Guard of the Year award back in 2020.
